The details about the Birth Place of Shri Goswami Tulsidas Ji was controversial for the past 500 years. The "Tulsi Janm Bhoomi Sukarkhet Vikas Samiti", envisages about the exact details about his birth based on the proofs provided by the manuscripts and other researches made by the intellectuals concerned to Shri Goswami Tulsidas Ji.
The President of Sanatan Dharam Parishad Dr. Swami Bhagwadacharya, took the initiatives to find out about the exact location of Sukarkhet Rajapur and after he proposed that it was in Gonda and not at Banda as known before, he was also supported by other famous renowned and well educated intellectuals, it held a firm ground.
1. Shri Ram Chandra Shukla once mentioned in his book "Hindi Sahitya ka Itihass" that the Sukarkhet hence present is in Gonda.
2. The manuscripts present in Banda were written latter than Tulsidas Ji.
3. There is no proof of the ancestors of Tulsidas Ji being of Banda.
4. There has been a mention of successors and students of Tulsi Das Ji by the intellectuals of Rajapur of Banda, but it is well known that he was unmarried and used to carry on the "SADHNA" in solitary.
5. Articles published in the Navbharat Times dated 18/03/1968, in Aaj on 06/07/1972 and the magazines Kadambini (aug. 1968) and Rashtradharam special (8th edition, 1972) tell about the fact that manuscript found in Nepal relating to Tulsidas Ji brings out the fact that his birth place being Sukarkhet on the convergence of Saryu and Ghagra rivers in the district of Gonda.
These facts conclude that Shri Goswami Tulsidas Ji was born in Gonda. The biggest evidence has been placed by Shri Goswami Tulsidas Ji in his DOHAS
"Mai puni nij guru san suni, Katha so sukarkhet
samujhi nahi tasi balpan, tab ati raheu achet"
It means at that time I listened this story many times in Sukarkhet, and i had no great knowledge at that time.
one other DOHA says that
"Lahi aankh kab aandhare, Banjhput kab lyaya
Kab kodhi kaya lahi, Jag bahraich jay"
Also he says
"Tulsi tiharo ghar jayo hai ghar ko"
Which means that Goswami asks Shri Ram that if Sugriva of Kishkindha and Vibhisana of Lanka can be your friend then I being of your place why can't be your friend.
We well know that Ayodhaya was a part of Gonda.
He has also mentioned about Baharich, the poet Holrai of Barabanki and Anirai of Nawabganj which were part of Gonda."
One of student of Shri Goswami Tulsidas Ji, Baba Veni Madhavdas one of the inhabitants of Paska also said that
"Kahat katha itihas bahu aaye sukarkhet
sangam saryu ghagra sant janan sukh het"
all of us know that this Saryu-Ghagra sangam is only in Paska district Gonda.
